2008-11-03 - Date With Death - Splash
Thanks for reading Bizarre Uprising. It's been a crazy 8+ years, but I hope you enjoyed the comic. Thanks to all those who were kind to us over the years, you had an impact on us.
It's been a busy few weeks for me and my free time. Two weeks ago my place of employment (Harmonix) got everyone tickets to The Who. Then an early family Birthday Party get togheter the following day. During the week I went to the Rock Band Live concert and then last weekend I went to Spooky World and saw The Polysics live.
Of all these events, one in particular had me feeling like Mitsu in the Splash Page above. The Rock Band Live concert series is an all emo ticket that I went to because I got free tickets and because I do enjoy some emo bands.
Now I've been to 2 or 3 emo shows in my day and there are a few common traits. They are usually 90% women and also very safe shows to be at. The Rock Band Live show was almost the same, except for a group of frat douche bags who felt the need to kick and arm swing into 14 year-old girls and moms.
They pissed me off beyond belief, but I held back, because I knew nothing good could come from trying to start something. Parents or girls tried to get them to stop, but they'd just hit them harder, laughing all the time. Security tried to escort them out, but since they all dressed and looked identical, they failed at ejecting all the offenders. Whenever one of their friends would be thrown out, they'd laugh and continue slamming into people.
This went on for every band that went on, but during Panic at the Disco, they hit my wife twice and purposeful or not, I'd had enough. My hand curled into a fist and I sprung forward hitting the douche responsible directly in the face. He was then pushed to the ground and when he got up, he was dazed and his nose was nose was bruised and bloody.
He asked who hit him, to which I admitted to (I didn't want someone else go get the blame). He and his jock friends tried to threaten me, but when my overall demeaner was that of indifference to their threats and they already had one friend hurting, they backed down. In fact they actually complimented me on a good punch.
They left the arena at this point and people were able to enjoy the rest of the night. Now I understand that violence isn't the answer to problems and what I did was incredibly stupid, but at least in this instance it did help out a lot of people.

You know what was pretty fucking awesome? Going to see Polysics play live in a small club was pretty fucking awesome, that's what!
