Holy fucking crap, I just found out that they just put the first half of Oban Star Racers on DVD!!! I'm ordering that motherfucker RIGHT NOW! Hold on a sec . . .
Ok, I'm back. So this past weekend, Mario Kart came out for the Wii, and I totally wanted to get it, but I just bought Witchblade volume 6 and Persona 3: FES, so I couldn't swing the dough, especially since expensive anime DVDs are coming out next month, and I have to be very very careful about spending too much money. Well it turns out that when I checked my bank balance today after paying bills that the gov'ment stuck $600 into my account as part of that economic stimulous thing that probably won't actually help the economy, but WILL help me buy Mario Kart for my Wii.
Now I'm very impatient, so instead of waiting until Tuesday to go out and get it, I drove up to the 24 hour Wal-mart a little ways away from me, so I could play it tonight, instead of tomorrow (of course, I'm writing this at quarter past two in the morning and I haven't actually opened it yet). So I drive down there, go into the store and as I head towards the electronic section, I see this HUGE line of people going all the way down the aisle. I TOTALLY forgot that GTA IV was coming out on Tuesday and that they'd probably be having a midnight sale on it, especially since the store was open anyway.
I walk past all the people waiting in line, and go into the videogame section and wander around until I find the special case that had big Mario Kart stickers on it, in which they were keeping the copies they had left. All the electronics employees are handling the midnight sale, so I go up to the counter, and say "um, excuse me, I'm NOT here for Grand Theft Auto Four, could I get a copy of MARIO KART?" to the guy who wasn't on register. Looking sort of confused, he hands the copies of GTA IV he has to one of the other guys and goes to get my Mario Kart out of the case. When I mention that I must be the only person there not getting GTA IV, he says "yeah, you're two days late!"
Having my game, they go to ring me up at the extra register, except that it doesn't work and freezes up, so they have to ring me up at one of the GTA registers, ahead of all the people were probably waiting in line for a couple of hours. I was rung up and I headed out, after buying some snacks, and calling Gil and Razlo to tell them the story and hear about their own wacky GTA midnight sale story, which I assume one of them will tell you about at some point.
